Specialism: Model / Effects Designer

A bit about me...
I grew up in Cornwall and after school went to Manchester to study 3D Design. On leaving University, my career has encompassed architectural model making, auto styling and prop maker/ theming for the Tussauds Group attractions. In 1997 I joined an existing Manchester based model company, working in Stop Motion animation, puppets and sets. I am also involved in permanent display, models props and sets for advertising and TV and film, including much for BBC and Granada . I continue to get involved with interesting and challenging wide ranging projects including teaching at degree level and recently prosthetic design for film. I decided to get involved with Sp8 of the Art because I was an admirer of Mark Speight 's enthusiasm and obvious artistic abilities. Having done some making on TV myself, I appreciate the difficulties of engaging with the audience. Having worked for 20 years in the field, I feel that I have wide ranging designing and making abilities, using a very wide range of materials and processes. I think I can pass on some of this knowledge and importantly want to enthuse young people to give them idea that creatively anything is possible, if you are open, driven and have ideas .
