Monday 5th December 2011 - Shropshire Children's University Children forum @ 'Enginuity', Coalbrookdale, Ironbridge, Shropshire

Speight of the Art was invited by Peter Jones, Director of Shropshire CU, to become an associate member of this seat of education, embracing children from the age of 4 years onwards. We are now a validated provider of learning, where each child has a passport of education stamped each time he/she fulfils a task, to the point of degree status complete with cap and gown.

On 5th December Speight of the Art was also invited to attend a supported event in Coalbrookdale, Shropshire together with representatives from schools in Telford and Wrekin. Representatives from the Local Authority, businesses, museums and libraries together with representative from learning providers and learning destinations across the county, and even further afield, added encouraging support to this worthwhile cause.

Local school children from Wem performed enthusiastically for the assembled gathering. The aim and objectives of the Shropshire CU in helping to create an awareness of educational opportunity in the minds of young children, has been proven to enhance school attendance and discipline elsewhere in the UK. The appointment of the first Shropshire Children's University Chancellor completed the evening's proceedings.

The Founder exceeded his own expectations by winning 2 of the 5 raffle prizes on offer!

As always, our aim is to consistently widen the scope of our activities and appeal to society even further. The sky's the limit as to what we can and will achieve in 2012.
