Over eight weeks at the end of 2010, Louise Mclean, our Northern Ireland co-ordinator, bought 8 schools and over 200 children together from the neighbourhood renewal area of Coleraine, for a first of its kind art project. 'Nativity by Nature', was developed to enable, empower and inspire children, and to encourage them to believe in themselves and to work together to complete a very special piece of art. Each school worked together to create a part of the traditional nativity entirely from willow, and each item was combined together at the end to create a unique scene. The children had a great time and worked together, building their confidence and creativity, and there has also been much interest from organisations looking to hire their final artwork.
