Newcastle McDonald’s Art Event June 6th, 2010
Another fantastic Speight of the Art event at McDonald’s Newcastle, Staffordshire, hosted by McDonald’s Franchisee Eddie Lligdowicz. The event was attended by 90 children and their families.
The restaurant was beautifully decorated with multi coloured balloons, superb Children’s art work borrowed from Weston Coyney Junior School paved the walls.
The theme for the event was ‘Families and Art at Home’ and the aim was to inspire and encourage Children into Art in a family centred, fun and happy atmosphere.
Special appearances were made by Local Labour Mp Paul Farrelly and his family and Deputy Mayor Trevor Hambleton and his wife Councillor Sandra Hambleton
The Specialist Artists who attended were:-
Chris Ryder who delivered four Caricature Drawing Art Workshops.
Phil Stuticinskas, a World Award winning Model Maker, who supported the ‘Art at Home Drop in’ Art workshop with activities such as paper plate decoration, card making and play dough model making.
Mick Johnson, a Professional sculptor lead a Sculpture Art Workshop and created a Sculpture of Mark Speight, the children participated in its creation and also created their own plasticine models.
Marie Leeds, a Professional Face painter did continuous Face Painting Art work.
Russell, a Professional Magician delivered two magic shows and entertained the children individually throughout the event.
Chris Clarkson, the ‘World’s Most Popular Living Statue’ performed his winning act as James Bond squirting water at the children.
Two Storm Troopers acts from Star Wars also entertained the children, one of whom secretly being Phil Stuticinskas, the Model Maker and the other Ritchie Walton, hence
‘Happy and Artistic Children’ all round.
A Team of Speight of the Art Volunteers helped to support the Artists and help with the organization of the event.
A very successful event which inspired Children into art and to continue art activities on their arrival back home with their families.
