Raising Funds at Morrison’s

On Sunday 30th January 2011 a team of wonderful Speight of the Art volunteers arrived at Morrison’s in Goose St, Newcastle to do a bag pack and raise valuable funds for our charity.
Stephanie’s daughter Harriet is doing a Duke of Edinburgh award and as part of this she is required to do some work for charity. She has chosen to do this for Speight of the Art. At the beginning of January she wrote to all the local supermarkets and asked if she and a few friends could bag pack for them.

Morrison’s in Newcastle wrote back almost straight away offering her the opportunity to bag pack on 30th January. Harriet, her best fiend Layla, her sister Olivia, Stephanie, Oliver and 2 of Jilly’s Angels – Tracey Popat and Sarah Barker arrived at 10.00am prompt and set up at the tills with their buckets. Oliver had a table by the door with pop ups and leaflets and met customers who were interested in learning more about the charity.

The event was a huge success. We raised £198.02 and met several schools that were interested in holding a workshop. A couple of shoppers offered to volunteer at future events.

Morrison’s have since been in touch and another bag pack is planned at their Festival Park store for 13th March. Volunteers are always welcome.
We would be delighted if any one wants to organize their own bag pack on our behalf. You could do it with your school, church group, Brownies pack, scouts group or sports club.
