Chris Clarkson gives SP8 launch event the thumbs up!
Chris Clarkson, world's most popular Living Statue performer 2009, took part in our launch event in Newcastle-under-Lyme in 2009 and featured us on his website blog.
Sp8 of the Art Wales…. Word from the street!
The Speight of the Art team in Wales have been really busy the last couple of months finding out all about the artistic heritage and creative identity that exists in the region, with the aim of setting up some new and groundbreaking artistic projects. We’ve done lots of research, but of course the people that we enjoy talking to the most are the children and young people living in the community!

Congratulations from 'Speight of the Art' to our Celebrity 'Speight of the Art' Volunteer, Actor -Chris Clarkson, who has become the 'World Most Popular Living Statue Performer for 2009'.
Chris, representing Great Britain, was invited to compete with around 150 other Living Statues from all over the world in Holland and won the title. How fantastic is this! Chris entered as a James Bond Living Statue. 'Speight of the Art' is very proud of Chris's achievement, Well done Chris.
Chernobyl children at SP8 event in Derby

New Health Specialist joins our team!!
We are delighted to welcome Peter Shah - Consutlant Opthalmic Surgeon at the Good Hope Hospital in Birmingham to be the Ophthalmic Consultant to the Foundation. BRIDGNORTH CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL links up with SP8 of the Art
The organisers of the Bridgnorth Children’s Festival are delighted to announce that they are linking up with SP8 of the Art – the Mark Speight Foundation for this year’s event.
We are always looking for ways to inspire people coming to the Festival to have a go at something new or improve their skills in particular area. This association will help us achieve one of our key objectives in providing unique development and learning opportunities for children and young people.”
Sp8 of the Art Tudor workshop in Pinner a success
180 children from West Lodge School in Pinner took part in a 2-day workshop organised by London artist Jacquie Feldman. With a Tudor theme, the children collaged and decorated 2 giant figures representing Henry VIII and Elizabeth I to display in their school, tying in with the year three and four history curriculum. Children’s Art Day Extravaganza with SP8 of the Art – London 9th July
Speight of the Art’s London region will be supporting national Art Week with its very own art extravaganza on the 9th July.
With the help of various Art Experts, The Gunnersbury School Jazz Band, CBBC’s SMart presenter and The One Show TV presenter Kirsten O’Brien, and Mike Fischetti, CBBC’s SMart presenter, SP8 of the Art will have a number of events all taking place at Alleyn’s School, Dulwich SE22.
Knight Garden Party event a big success!
Again this event proved to be very successful for Speight of the Art in the North Staffordshire Region.
The Garden Party event was to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the existence of Knights the solicitors. The Speight of the Art headquarters reside in this building. A building which had been rebuilt by Oliver Speight, the Founder of Speight of the Art 20 years previously.
Speight of the Art had been very kindly invited to be the focus of the event and all proceeds raised are planned to be donated to the Foundation.

June 15 - 19th - Windmill Primay School - Telford - Art week (organised by our Regional Coordinator for the West Midlands, Megan Davies)
June 22 - 26th - Weston Coyney Primary school - Stoke on Trent - Art week including workshops with associated SP8 of the Art professional artists (organised by our HQ/North Staffs Coordinator, Jilly Stubbs).
