Monday 5th December 2011 - Shropshire Children's University Children forum @ 'Enginuity', Coalbrookdale, Ironbridge, Shropshire

Speight of the Art was invited by Peter Jones, Director of Shropshire CU, to become an associate member of this seat of education, embracing children from the age of 4 years onwards. We are now a validated provider of learning, where each child has a passport of education stamped each time he/she fulfils a task, to the point of degree status complete with cap and gown.


Friday December 2nd 2011 - Prize Your Eyes - Moorfields Hospital, London - Art competition awards

Following involvement in the judging of the Competition, the Founder was invited to attend and asked to present prizes for the Art Competition held this year in the children's section of the Moorfields Eye Hospital!

Professor Peter Shah, our Patron and instigator of the Prize Your Eyes competition was also on hand to deliver to those children and parents alike, who were present, an address highlighting the dangers of eye damage and its prevention.


The Aldersley Arena Leisure Paralympics event ( Wolverhampton ), November 18th

This SP8 , Wolverhampton led, activity, began as a result of an article/interview on the Foundation by the Wolverhampton Express and Star newspaper. The organisers of the Paralympic event spotted the interview with the Founder, liked what they saw and invited us to attend!

This resulted in our appearance at the Aldersley Arena Leisure Centre on the 18 November, enabling us to participate in an Olympic inspired event for those disabled and special needs children and with special reference to the Paralympic 2012!


Tuesday November 1st – Friday November 4th, British Ceramics Biennial Celebration – Spode Factory, Stoke on Trent

The 200 years celebration of the Ceramics Industry’s establishment of its world wide recognition as being at the heartbeat of pottery, fine bone china and associated products and industries, was located for a two week period at the former Spode factory in the old town of Stoke .


Special donation award from leading retail centre, Hanley, Stoke on Trent

On Monday the 10th October the Founder was invited to attend a prize presentation held at the main Potteries Shopping Centre at Hanley, Stoke on Trent.

The Potteries management had selected 7 different worthy causes to award significant cash donations.

Speight of the Art was awarded £500 in recognition of its invaluable creative work exceuted in the local community and delivered at those local schools vitally in need of our cultural support . A pat on the back for all of you!


Wednesday 28th September 2011 - St Margaret's Ward, School Prize giving @ Victoria Theatre Hanley, Stoke on Trent

The Foundation's association with St Margaret's Ward School, Tunstall is cementing. From the moment I walked through the front door for the first time some 15 months ago, an acute awareness of those two great presents to give to a child, namely love and time, hit me forcibly.


City of Stoke on Trent Olympics Weekend - Hanley Museum and Art Gallery, Saturday July 23rd 2011

In anticipation of the start of the 2012 London Olympiad precisely 12 month to the day, the City of Stoke on Trent and Hanley Museum invited Speight of the Art to participate in a free celebration weekend of artistic inspiration for children! The Hanley Museum being the original home of the 'hoard' of 8th Century gold artefacts discovered in a Staffordshire field.

Great reviews from our art workshops!

On Friday May 27th and Saturday May 28th at Moto Services in Stafford, Speight of the Art was out in force, bringing exciting art workshops to local schools and the general public. With car art, dancers, a band and graffiti artists among many others, there was something for everyone to get involved in, and it proved to be a great success.

Friday May 27th and Saturday May 28th Moto Services in Stafford M6 Northbound

Billed as an Artistic Extravaganza, Speight of the Art and Moto Services combined together to provide 2 days of creative excitement and entertainment to some 200 inspired children.

Housed in a marquee to deal with the inclement weather, the young participants were the beneficiaries of artistic brilliance coupled with the fabulous and haunting rhythms and dance from both India and Brazil.
