Hi, I’m Bridget Bowie and I’ve just taken on the responsibility of co-ordinating projects in Cheshire.
I’ve always lived and worked in Cheshire, apart from a 3 year spell in Leicestershire whilst doing my degree. I currently live in Nantwich with my husband.
I have had a passion for art and drawing since I first picked up a pencil, or was it a brush, or maybe it was my fingers – anyway, for as long as I can remember. Any art of any kind, although my real passion is for textiles, paper and machine embroidery.
After doing my degree, I exhibited in various exhibitions and galleries, before training to become a teacher – I taught Art & Design (11-18) for about 15 years until I decided to explore other options a few years ago. I now deliver workshops to various community groups, and this work involves Primary Schools, Festival Events, Health and Well-being groups and local regeneration projects.
I completed my MA in October and have since joined ‘Cheshire Textiles’ who have been established for 21 years, and exhibit widely throughout the country. So I now divide my time between developing my own work and delivering workshops.
In my spare time – when I have any, I like to visit Galleries, go to the Theatre, listen to music, eat good food with friends and travel.
Creativity is at the centre of my life, I can’t imagine a life without the arts. That’s why I decided to join the SP8 campaign, so that we can help provide creative events for children who may otherwise not have access to them. To ignite a spark and enable children of all ages to be inspired.
The first event in Cheshire will take place as part of the Primary College event at South Cheshire College (Dane Bank) in Crewe. This is an annual event organised by the College providing a wide range of workshops in many different subjects, for children from local Primary Schools. I will add more detail soon.
Until then, please do not hesitate to contact me, via the website, if you think that you may be interested in helping on a voluntary basis, or if you just want more information.
