Banksy exhibition
Have you been to the Banksy exhibtion in Bristol at the City Museum yet? If not, why? It's FAB!
Sure the queue is GI-NORMOUS, but it was very worth the wait.
I've been a bit of a fan of Banksy's for a few years & have loved living in Bristol & being able to see some of his original street art, along with many other amazing street artists work all over the city, mainly in the Stokes croft area.
Julie Sinderberry
Hey! Anybody in the Bristol area want to get involved in a youth festival at Kingswood Sept 5th? I'm in the process of getting a stall & some workshops organized for Speight there. Any artists or showmen/women or entertainers who fancy showcasing their talents & helping us out to raise some money would be ACE! Tell your friends! Thanks.

Progress in Yorkshire
Just to let everyone know that even though things appear to have been quiet here in North Yorkshire I have been really busy! The children of Thirsk Community Primary have produced some great art work and plans are afoot for more out of school activities.
Unfortunately our application to the Arts Council for the PAINT (Producing Artists IN Thirsk) project got turned down. So I have been working hard to think about how we can move forward to find more creative opportunities for children.
Breeze on Down To The Brue - Family Art Activities
I'm busy preparing for our first event in Burnham on Sea - a family art activity day. A group of four local artists and I will be providing opportunities for local people and tourists to try making dreamcatchers, clay tiles, collage and willow butterflies. This is part of the River Brue Festival which was started last year. Other activities include a sculpture trail with guided walks, mural painting, a 'Draw Burnham' day and a craft fair. The event runs from 1-2 August, the family tent only on the 2nd (in the Apex Park). Its totally FREE!!!
Exhibition for the holidays
Heaven and Earth : Richard Long
at the Tate Britain Gallery now until 6 September
If you happen to be in London sometime during your Summer holidays, there is a very interesting exhibition at the Tate Britain.
Continuing with our link between Art and nature, this is a retrospective exhibition of a contemporary British artist. Over the past forty years Richard Long has worked both with and in the natural environment.

Cheshire Region, Success at the Primary College event in Crewe
Last weeks four days of workshops was a great success - It was brilliant to have our first Cheshire event. Many thanks must go to the organisers of the Primary College for allowing us to take over some of their studio space. Much fun was had by everyone, despite the very hot and humid conditions!
Knights Garden Party event a big success!
Again this event proved to be very successful for Speight of the Art in the North Staffordshire Region.
The Garden Party event was to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the existence of Knights the solicitors. The Speight of the Art headquarters reside in this building. A building which had been rebuilt by Oliver Speight, the Founder of Speight of the Art 20 years previously.
Speight of the Art had been very kindly invited to be the focus of the event and all proceeds raised are planned to be donated to the Foundation.
Introducing Bridget, SP8 coordinator for Cheshire
Hi, I’m Bridget Bowie and I’ve just taken on the responsibility of co-ordinating projects in Cheshire.
I’ve always lived and worked in Cheshire, apart from a 3 year spell in Leicestershire whilst doing my degree. I currently live in Nantwich with my husband.
I have had a passion for art and drawing since I first picked up a pencil, or was it a brush, or maybe it was my fingers – anyway, for as long as I can remember. Any art of any kind, although my real passion is for textiles, paper and machine embroidery.
