Hi, I’m Lucinda Day
Hi, I’m Lucinda Day, and I’m the regional – coordinator for Speight of the Art foundation Wales. I fell in love with Wales when I moved here to read English Literature at Cardiff University in 2005, and have stayed on to work and live here since. I spend my spare time travelling around Wales, and love nothing more than finding somewhere new, unique and beautiful; a place to discover and explore. Wales has a unique British heritage and culture, which defines its contemporary society and, of course, its art. I am very excited to be Speight of the Art Coordinator for Wales specifically; a place with such a distinctive, and inspirational artistic history and with a bright future ahead.
It is a great honour to work on behalf of this charity in particular; I grew up with Mark on my television screen, and like so many other children throughout his career, was creatively inspired and enthused by him. This charity seeks to continue Mark’s legacy, by creating artistic opportunities and development for some of the most deprived children in the UK. I’ve worked with children and young people between the ages of 0 – 18 extensively, in a variety of voluntary and paid positions. I am dedicated to the well – being of young people and am working extremely hard to ensure that the Speight of the Art Foundation Wales does its utmost to develop artistic opportunities for children and young people in the region.
Speight of the Art Foundation is a charity for children, and by children, I would thus like as many children living in Wales as possible to get involved. Whether you have ideas as to what facilities or competitions or events you would like in your area or school, or you are a budding/ wannabe artist who would like to develop your skills further, then I would like to hear from you – please do not be shy!
I have a keen interest in all kinds of art (film, modern art, photography etc.) As Regional Coordinator I would like to ensure that all children living in modern Wales have access to a truly diverse range of arts, and help them build on, and develop, an eclectic artistic presence in Britain today. Whatever your age, skills and abilities, I’m always looking out for people to help with fundraising, research, events, developing facilities, and of course, those willing to work with children and young people on artistic projects. It is both my pleasure and privilege to work with communities, to help continue Mark’s legacy, and make a real difference to the lives and the futures of the children living in Wales. Please do get in touch, I’ll always be here to listen to your ideas, and do my very best to successfully implement them on behalf of the Speight of the Art Foundation Wales.
I look forward to working with you to create a better future for children in Wales today,
Lucinda.
