Banksy exhibition
Have you been to the Banksy exhibtion in Bristol at the City Museum yet? If not, why? It's FAB!
Sure the queue is GI-NORMOUS, but it was very worth the wait.
I've been a bit of a fan of Banksy's for a few years & have loved living in Bristol & being able to see some of his original street art, along with many other amazing street artists work all over the city, mainly in the Stokes croft area.
What I think impressed me most was how multi-faceted his skills are. There are the trade mark stencil grafitti style artworks he's best known for and then some amazingly life-like animatronic pieces. Some traditionally painted takes on the great masters with some cheeky twists and some guerilla style pieces hidden amongst the rest of the exhibits at the Bristol City Museum. It's cunningly done so you have to go through the entire museum and find out all the pieces that have been displayed in with the stuffed animals, pottery and paintings.
I braved the queues twice! Each time was probably an hour and a half, but I'm glad I did as I dont think I've ever seen an exhibition like it.
I'd definately recomend it to anyone, young or old. We went with some friends and their 2 young children and all seemed to enjoy it.
Its on till the end of August and admission is free, but make sure you allow for the queue, if you havent joined it by 3pm it's pobably not worth bothering as last admission in is 4pm. I'd say it takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to have a good meander round. It's thought prevoking, a bit political, fun but overall tongue in cheek!
Hope you go & enjoy it as much as we all did, and also enjoy the photos of it I've posted up.
Cheers, Julie. x
