Hello,

I'm David and I'm the new SP8 district coordinator for Worcestershire.

Having taught Art and Design for many years, twenty five as a Head of Department, in various locations including the South coast of England and the East End of London. I am now employed by an Examination Board marking candidates work for their Art and Design syllabus.

Throughout this time I have experienced working across the age range of a diversity of children, from those with privileged backgrounds to those with disadvantaged backgrounds.

It certainly wasn’t uncommon that children would come to Art lessons encouraged, enthused and up for a discussion after watching Mark on SMart the previous afternoon!

The common factor throughout is that children all have something to say, and Speight of the Art will undoubtedly give them the opportunity to say it.

I welcome comments from children, irrespective of ability, adults who would like to become involved, and any companies/enterprise who would like to contribute in the form of sponsorship.
